Man calls couple ‘thieves’, opens fire over parking dispute in Gurugram

An unidentified man opened fire at two people near Housing Board Colony in Gurugram’s sector 9 area. The accused opened fire after calling the two people “thieves” following a parking dispute.
The incident took place when the victims were going to the gym. Upon reaching the spot, the two attempted to park their scooty, to which the accused raised an objection.
As they parked, the accused approached them and told them not to park their scooter there, warning that it could cause problems. The couple replied that they were just about to leave. During this exchange, the accused youth verbally abused them, calling them “thieves,” before suddenly opening fire.
While nobody was injured in the incident, the bullet grazed the woman’s hand. The victims rushed to the police station to file a complaint. However, the accused had escaped by the time police reached the spot.
The victim informed India Today that the accused tried to attack them with sticks. He stated that he picked up a brick in self-defence, adding that the accused went home and got a pistol.
“He called us thieves and abused me. He also pushed me and I pushed him back. There was a woman with him who also pushed me. He got a stick, so I picked up a brick to save myself. Then he went home and got a pistol to fire at us. I have never seen him before,” the man said.
A police official said that they’re trying to ascertain if the accused had a criminal background. Furthermore, he said that a bullet shell was recovered from the spot.
